Fxcm Mt4 Something Went Wrong Try Again Reddit
Finally!
I've made the switch to TradingView.
It was a long and deliberate decision, but I've finally taken the plunge and switch to TradingView — and it'southward the best trading decision I've made this year.
Here's why…
If you have known me long plenty, I've been a huge fan of MT4 (otherwise known as Metatrader iv). After all, what'southward there not to like about it… information technology's gratis, information technology has many indicators, and information technology loads fast.
Just after using it for years… I realised there are issues that won't go abroad and you lot'll either have to suck it up or discover something else (I'll explicate after).
So in today's TradingView review, you'll larn:
- The five biggest reasons why I switched to TradingView from MT4
- The benefits of TradingView
- The downside of TradingView
- Is TradingView for you?
Are y'all ready?
Then allow's get started…
Note: This post contains affiliate links. This means if you sign upwards with TradingView pro, I'll earn a referral fee.
Practise you confront these problems with MT4?
They are:
- The flying trendline
- You lose all your data if your system crash
- Yous have access to a limited number of markets
- You need to re-annals your account every 30 days
- You lot have no support
Let me explain…
The flying trendline
If you lot've used MT4 long enough, you'll realise the trendlines on your nautical chart are as reliable every bit trying to withdraw your funds from a Forex broker based in Republic of cyprus — yous never know if information technology'due south at that place or non.
Imagine:
Y'all've spent hours drawing trendlines on your charts. The adjacent moment, when you lot got downward to the lower timeframe, the same trendline (that you've fatigued before) has shifted past itself… like some voodoo magic taking place.
Now, if your trading approach requires you to use trendlines, so the MT4 platform is non something you'll want to trade with — especially on a live account.
You lot lose all your information if your system crash
Hither'due south the thing:
The MT4 platform must be installed on your local device. This ways if your estimator crash, at that place goes everything along with information technology — and that includes all the settings you lot accept in MT4.
Also, if you want to trade while you're overseas, information technology volition be a problem because you tin can't bring your reckoner over, right?
Don't tell me you tin can trade on your phone, I'll smack you.
Sure you tin use a laptop, but the MT4 settings on your laptop will non be the aforementioned as the one on your figurer. So you must adjust the settings, re-draw your charts, and plot your indicators over again. Ouch.
Yous have access to a limited number of markets
This statement is biased because MT4 is created for Forex traders. Thus, the markets offered are mainly currency pairs.
Even so, some brokers may offer CFDs so you can trade indices and some of the popular stocks. But largely, y'all're limited to the Forex markets.
And so…
If y'all're a Trend Follower (like me) who trades across many markets, then MT4 is a severe limitation. Yous'll have to open up unlike MT4 brokerage accounts only to admission a full spectrum of markets.
And if y'all're a stock trader, options trader, or futures trader, don't bother with MT4 — information technology's not for you.
I would say MT4 but makes sense if you lot're solely a Forex trader and nothing else.
You demand to re-register your MT4 account every 30 days
Here'southward the matter:
If you sign up for a live MT4 account, then you can use the platform indefinitely.
Just if y'all're on a demo then you must register the account every thirty days or you can't access it anymore.
You'll go a bulletin popping up every 30 days maxim "invalid account" and you need to register your particulars all over once more. It gets annoying over time.
And you tin can't blame the banker considering it's their way of "kick" those who are not serious about funding an account and just want to use the platform for free.
So, if you're like me using multiple MT4 brokers to track many markets, so be prepared to face this effect.
There is no support for MT4
Conspicuously, there are limitations in the MT4 platform as I've mentioned earlier (like the flying trendline, the MACD indicator looks weird, and etc.).
Merely practise you know what the worst thing is?
You're on your own.
Yup, y'all read that right.
If you discover whatever bug, problems, or bugs on the MT4 platform, don't expect it to go resolved —information technology won't.
Why?
Because MT4 is a complimentary platform. Who'south going to pay a team of support staff to reply your queries or ready your bug?
Nobody.
So any issues you face, just presume information technology will be there permanently and you must either accept it or move onto something else.
Now…
Those are the biggest issue I've faced with MT4 and that's why I've switched to TradingView.
Side by side, I'll explain to you lot how TradingView solved all my problems and what are the benefits of using it…
Why I dear TradingView and the benefits of it
The reason is unproblematic.
TradingView solves all the issues I listed before.
For example:
Information technology doesn't take the flying trendline problem on MT4.
It'south based on the cloud you and so don't lose your data even if your computer crash — and it syncs across your reckoner, laptop, and mobile then y'all have a shine feel.
Yous have access to a huge range of markets similar Stocks, Forex, Commodities, Agriculture, Indices, Bonds, Metals, and etc. which is a dream for a Trend Follower like me.
You don't have to register an account every 30 days because it doesn't expire (which means you have lifetime access to it).
You take a team of Support that answers your questions and volition fix any bugs or issues you encounter.
And that's not all…
TradingView has many useful features that will better your trading experience.
Now go watch this TradingView tutorial below which will help you master it — in less than 20minutes.
Note: In this TradingView Review, I'm using TradingView Pro (which cost $9.95/month) and some features listed might not be available for the gratuitous account.
TradingView Alerts: You lot don't have to picket the markets 24/5
If you're a swing trader or a position trader, y'all spend most of the fourth dimension staying on the sidelines — waiting for a trading opportunity.
You'll normally check your charts every few hours to see if in that location are any trading setups or not. But sometimes the market may accept a sudden "fasten" that comes into your level and because you're away, you finish up missing the move.
So, what can you do?
Y'all can employ an "alert" to inform you the cost has come to your level and so you won't miss a trading setup or spend 24/v watching the markets.
Here's how you can practise it on TradingView…
- Click the "Alert" icon at the top of your page
- Set your price level
Information technology looks something like this:
Now…
In one case you lot've set information technology up, you'll be alerted via email when the price comes to your level and then you lot'll never miss some other trading setup — and still, take the freedom to do the things you love.
TradingView offers custom trading indicators — for free
At that place are many trading indicators out there and sometimes, you have to pay money for indicators to be custom coded.
Then…
TradingView developed a programming linguistic communication called "Pine Script" where users tin develop their own custom indicators and upload it to TradingView.
This means you can notice almost whatever trading indicators all in one place — for complimentary!
And unlike MT4 where you'll have to search forums or websites for custom indicators, TradingView has them all in 1 identify — which saves y'all enough of time.
Here's how you can access it:
- Click the "Indicators" button at the top
- Select the indicator you desire
An example:
And so, you'll encounter the different category of indicators. Let me explain…
Built-ins – Popular indicators built into the TradingView platform (like MACD, RSI, Stochastic, and etc.)
Public Library – Custom indicators created by TradingView's users
Fundamentals – Indicators related to the fundamentals of a visitor (like earnings, revenue, price to volume, and etc.)
Y'all tin can use relative strength to find high probability trading setups
You lot're probably wondering:
"What's relative force?"
Relative strength refers to how strong an instrument is relative to its sector (otherwise known equally cantankerous-sectional momentum).
For example:
In the currency markets, how stiff is the Euro currency relative to the USD, CAD, JPY and etc.?
In the stock markets, how stiff is a stock relative to the S&P?
This is useful information because you lot want to go long on the instrument which is relatively stronger and short the ones which are relatively weaker.
Why?
Because a relatively strong market tends to motion further in your favor and have shallower pullbacks. This means your merchandise have a greater odds of success.
So, here'southward how to place relative force on Tradingview:
- Click on the "Compare" button at the height
- Insert the relevant market (sector or index)
An example:
Now, y'all must compare the correct musical instrument to its sector (or alphabetize).
For case:
If I'thou identifying the relative strength of the Euro, then I'll compare information technology to EUR/USD, EUR/CAD, EUR/JPY, EURAUD, and etc.
And not compare it with the S&P or the Treasury bonds because is irrelevant to the Euro.
Similarly…
If I desire to know how potent the Due south&P is, then I'll compare it with the other indices around the world.
Make sense?
Good. Let's motility on…
You can trade with multiple timeframes like a pro
I'1000 sure you'll agree with me when I say…
Nigh charting platforms have default timeframes you can choose from. It's ordinarily the Daily, 4-hour, 1-60 minutes, xxx-mins, 15mins, 5mins, and 1min — and that'southward it.
Simply, what if y'all want an uncommon timeframe like the 7-hour charts?
Well, you probably need to rent someone to custom code it for you — and that'due south if the platform allows it.
Now the proficient news is…
TradingView allows you to customize the timeframe in whatsoever style you want… whether it'southward 7-minutes, 7-hours, 7-days, 7 weeks — or even vii months.
Hither's how to do it:
- Click the "Arrow" beside the timeframe console
- Select your desired timeframe
Here's what I mean:
And wait, that'due south not all…
You can too layout the different timeframes (side by side) and see the price action on the different timeframes. This is useful especially for day traders who desire to know what the price is currently doing relative to the higher timeframe.
Here'south how to practise it:
- Select the "dual panel" at the peak
- Cull your desired chart layout
An example:
Now, you lot'll see different options you lot can cull for your chart. Let me explicate…
Link symbol to all charts – This lets you have both charts showing the aforementioned market
Link interval to all charts – This lets you have both charts showing the same timeframe
Sync crosshair on all charts – This synchronizes your crosshair beyond the different timeframes
Runway time on all charts – This shows you how the chart on the lower timeframe looks like when yous're pointing your crosshair on a candle (from the college timeframe chart)
This is insane, right?
Economic agenda at your fingertips and then you don't get caught off guard — and lose a clamper of your majuscule
Let me ask you…
How often have you lot got stopped out of a trade because yous weren't aware there'due south a news event coming out?
It sucks right, I know.
So do yourself a favour and pay attending to the economic calendar on TradingView.
Here's how to practice it:
- Select the "Economic Calendar" button on the right
- Click on "Settings" and choose your news preference
An example:
Here are a few things to take note…
High Importance – These are news releases which have a high impact on the financial markets. I suggest y'all bank check this box
Medium Importance – These are news releases which have a medium impact on the fiscal markets. You can uncheck this if you lot desire
Low Importance – These are news releases which have a low touch on the financial markets. You can uncheck this if y'all want
Finally, yous tin can select the news from the respective countries you want (like USD, EURO, CAD, and etc.).
And that's not all…
You can as well take news events to appear at the bottom of your chart so y'all'll not get defenseless off guard.
Hither's how to practice it:
- Right-click and select "Properties" on your chart
- Get to the "Events & Alerts" Tab
- Check the box "Show Economic Events on Nautical chart"
You'll meet something similar this:
So…
As the new candles are formed closer to the "events symbol" below, information technology means the news release is budgeted closer.
But at that place's a catch…
Here's the thing:
If you want to use the features I've mentioned higher up, and then you must get at least the TradingView pro account.
You lot might be wondering:
"What about the free account on TradingView?"
Certain, you can employ it but it has limitations and comes with annoying popups (every few minutes).
And it'south non their error because they are running a business and they need cash flow to maintain their software developers, figurer servers, technical support, and etc.
Or else…
Who's going to pay for their research & development?
Who's going to encompass their business organization expenses?
Who's going to pay their employees?
Clearly, you can expect to get everything for complimentary — just look what happened to MT4 and you get my indicate.
At present, let's motility on to my final point…
TradingView Review — Is TradingView for you?
As much as I would similar to say you should use TradingView then I tin earn some referral fees, that'southward not how I roll.
And so hither are my thoughts on whether yous should employ TradingView.
TradingView is not for you lot if:
- Y'all're an options trader
- You have depression capital
- Y'all're a scalper
Allow me explain…
one. You're an options trader
TradingView is not meant for options trader because they don't provide marketplace data for options.
2. You have a small trading business relationship
Here's the thing:
If your business relationship size is less than $1000, then it doesn't make sense to subscribe to TradingView.
Why?
Because the yearly subscription is $120.
That's 12% of your trading capital on a $1000 account. This means you need to make 12% a yr to intermission even which puts you lot at a severe disadvantage. You're amend off using other costless trading tools in the meantime.
3. Y'all're a scalper who trades the order flow of the markets
For a scalper, speed is of the essence considering you need to brand carve up 2d's decision.
However, TradingView isn't built for speed unlike some of the other established platforms (like CQG or TT) — so it's not for you.
Now you're probably wondering:
"Who should use TradingView?"
TradingView is for you if:
- Y'all have a decent business relationship size
- You merchandise in different markets
- You're a swing or position trader
Let me explain…
ane. You have a decent account size
Before, I mentioned that if you take a $1000 account, it doesn't make sense to subscribe to TradingView because yous need to generate a return of 12%/twelvemonth to breakeven.
But, if your account is larger (let's say $5000), then it makes sense since you only demand 2.four%/year to breakeven.
2. You trade in different markets
TradingView offers data on Stocks, Futures, Forex, Indices, ETFs, and etc.
So if yous trade across many sectors, so TradingView will make your life easier without having to use multiple charting platforms.
3. You're a swing or position trader
Swing and position traders rely on technical analysis to make their trading decisions. And TradingView offers one of the best charting capabilities out there.
It can be used for day traders as well if speed is not of the essence to you.
Next…
TradingView Plans and Pricing
Now, TradingView comes with 3 different plans:
- Pro ($14.95/month)
- Pro+ ($24.95/month)
- Premium ($49.95/month)
Note: You lot get a discount when yous sign upward for a yearly subscription instead of monthly.
The deviation between them is the corporeality of "bells and whistles" you become.
For example:
The higher-tiered plans allow yous to have more than indicators on your chart, more historical data, use multiple devices, priority support, etc.
If y'all want to compare the full difference, and then bank check it out here.
At present you might be thinking:
"And then which plan do I go for?"
My suggestion is to go for TradingView Pro because if you want to upgrade, yous can do then from your dashboard.
But if you're on TradingView Premium, it'due south not possible to downgrade and y'all're stuck with something y'all don't want.
Then, go with the everyman tier plan and and so upgrade (if you wish to).
Pro Tip:
TradingView offers a discount during Black Fri.
And whether you're a free or paid subscriber, y'all get access to the same deal (so keep a lookout for it).
TradingView brokers
Here's the affair:
TradingView started as a charting platform (non a brokerage) and so in the early days, you lot weren't able to place trades straight on TradingView.
But things are changing as they are integrating their platform with brokers.
And then here's a list of brokers that you tin can merchandise with on TradingView:
- CQG
- AMP
- Oanda
- Forex.com
- Poloniex
- iBroker
- Saxo
- Tradovate
Bonus TradingView Tips
At present permit me share with you 4 TradingView features I utilize regularly…
1. Highlight the markets of your interest
In the past, I used to become through every market in my watchlist to make sure I don't miss any trading opportunities.
But I realized information technology's a huge waste matter of fourth dimension to scan every market because some of them simply don't present whatsoever trading opportunity (at to the lowest degree non in the well-nigh future).
So hither's what I did…
Every weekend I'll do my "homework" and highlight the markets of my interest.
And so I "mark" them on my TradingView watchlist then I don't miss these opportunities for the coming week.
Hither's how to practise it…
- Bring your cursor to the symbol in your watchlist
- Put the cursor to the left of the symbol and click on it
- Select the colour you want and "marker" the symbol
Here's an instance…
This way, y'all relieve time as you lot don't accept to go through every market in your watchlist.
Sweet!
ii. Undo your "mistakes" easily
You might not know this but, TradingView allows you to undo your "mistakes" easily.
Only printing "CTRL Z" and information technology will reset the previous action you did.
For example:
If you accidentally shift your Back up & Resistance, CTRL Z.
If you lot add together a weird indicator by error, CTRL Z.
If y'all did something wrong only you're not sure what it is, CTRL Z.
You get my signal.
3. Duplicate your drawings easily
This is useful if you want to draw multiple Support & Resistance, Trendlines, Channels, etc.
Here's how…
- Click on the drawing you lot want
- Press CTRL C
- Then CTRL V
Tada!
Your drawing duplicated.
four. Bookmark your favourite timeframe
This way, you can switch between timeframes in only a mouse click.
Here's how…
- Click on the timeframe tab
- "Star" your favourite timeframe
An example:
And that'southward it!
Your favorite timeframe volition at present appear on the main tab.
Here's what it looks similar…
This is cool stuff, right?
